The water hammer phenomenon often occurs during the steam delivery process in the grease processing plant, which affects the safe production and operation of the workshop, and even severely damages the pipelines and welded joints. The trick to conveying steam is to "slowly", send slowly and open the valve slowly, to ensure sufficient system warm-up time and timely discharge of condensate. A complete air supply process is usually no less than 60 minutes, which can avoid running in the steam pipeline system. At that time, due to some reason, the flow rate of steam or condensed water in the pipeline changes, which causes the alternating changes of sharp increase and decrease in pressure and the occurrence of water hammer. Combining with production practice, a brief introduction to the standard operation process of "sending" steam when driving is given for your reference!
Ⅰ. Requirements for safe delivery of steam
1. Thoroughly inspect all steam points, operating spaces and escape passages before sending steam.
2. Always stand on the side of the steam valve when opening and closing the valve.
3. Properly open the drain bypass, and slowly open the steam valve many times to prevent water hammer.
4. After the equipment and pipelines are warmed up, close the bypass valve of the trap in time to prevent a large amount of steam from being discharged into other equipment and pipelines.
5. When the steam leaks, lock the energy source in time to completely release the steam in the system, and perform maintenance after the leaking point is cooled to prevent the steam spray and scald.
6. In the event of power outages, water cuts, unplanned emergency shutdowns across the entire line, etc., close the main steam valve leading to the pretreatment and leaching in the press workshop in time, and open all exhaust steam valves and drain bypass valves.
7. In case of planned shutdown, emergency shutdown, or large fluctuations in gas consumption, call the boiler, electrician, and machine repair in time.
8. Employees who have not received the training in this procedure are not allowed to independently send steam to the workshop.
The accumulated condensate produces water hammer
Ⅱ. Steam delivery procedure (power to main steam drum)
1. Check and confirm: All the front and back valves of the trap and the trap bypass valve on the main steam pipeline from the power workshop (boiler room) to the press workshop are all open.
2. The steam drum, the high-pressure and low-pressure main steam pipelines of the workshop are all closed, and the front and back valves of the trap and the bypass valve of the trap are all opened.
3. The main steam pipeline of the workshop and its bypass, fire-fighting steam valves, and all fire-fighting steam valves of the main steam pipeline of the extraction workshop are all closed in place.
4. The branch valve of the steam drum leading to each steam point, the main steam gas, the valve and its bypass steam pneumatic valve, the branch valve (main valve and bypass valve) on the high-pressure and low-pressure pipelines leading to all steam points Valves) are all closed in place.
5. The readings of the steam flow meters leading from the power workshop to the workshop have been recorded.
6. Notify the supervisor on duty to confirm the completion of the above inspection, ask the supervisor on duty to clearly send the steam to the location, and repeat to the supervisor on duty to confirm; after obtaining the supervisor’s permission to send steam, perform the following steps.
7. Notify the power workshop: Slowly open the main steam bypass valve leading to the workshop, and send steam until it is fully opened. After increasing the valve opening each time, inspect the steam pipeline. If there is water hammer impact, notify the power workshop to close or close the valve in time, and switch on and off repeatedly until the water hammer disappears.
8. After the main steam pipeline is fully preheated (condensation water is obviously reduced), close the drain bypass valve on the pipeline.
9. Notify the power workshop: Slowly open all the main steam valves leading to the workshop, and then close the bypass valve. At this point, the steam delivery procedure from the power workshop to the press workshop has been completed.
The formation process of water hammer
Ⅲ. Send steam from the main steam pipeline to the workshop
1. Slowly open the bypass valve of the main steam pipeline leading to the main steam drum to avoid water hammer;
2. Close the bypass valve of the steam drum trap valve after the intermediate steam drum is preheated;
3. When each system of the workshop is ready to start using steam, follow the instructions of the shift leader and refer to the above steps in this article to send steam in advance from the main steam drum to the steam use points of each sub-drum and each heater.
Unfortunately, we found that almost all the steam systems of grease processing plants have different degrees of water hammer, but people mistakenly think that water hammer is a natural and inevitable phenomenon in the steam and condensate system. This concept is a big mistake. That's wrong. In fact, through reasonable design and correct operation, any system can eliminate the problem of water hammer.
